CTTC participates for the first time in projects funded by de CENIT Program
Up one levelCTTC participates in two projects funded in the framework of second and third calls of the CENIT (Consorcios Estratégicos Nacionales de Investigación Técnica) Program.
The CENIT Program is funded by the CDTI (Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial) in the framework of “Ingenio 2010” initiative. The CENIT objective is to promote the research and development (R&D) cooperation of public and private institutions. Up to now, CENIT Program counts with three calls, the first in 2006, and the second and the third in 2007, with a total budget of 580 millions of euros.
The first project in which CTTC is involved is GAD (Gestión Activa de la Demanda Eléctrica). This project deals with the optimized use of electric energy. The consortium of GAD consists of 15 industries and 14 associated research centres, leadered by Iberdrola. CTTC participates as a research centre associated with DIMAT. This project started in January 2007 and has a duration of 4 years. GAD is one of the 15 R&D projects funded in the framework of the second CENIT call, whose budget is 200 millions of euros. 120 millions of euros are devoted to funding research centres associated to industries, among them the CTTC.
The second project in which CTTC cooperates is TIMI (Transporte Inteligente de Mercancias Intermodal). This project deals with the optimized transport of goods. The consortium of TIMI is leadered by Atos Origin and consists of private companies, universities and research centres. This project started in March 2007 and has a duration of 4 years. TIMI is one of the 16 projects funded in the framework of the third CENIT call, whose budget is 180 millions of euros. 121 millions of euros are devoted to funding research centres associated to industries, among them the CTTC.
