The PMT in figures

The Mediterranean Technology Park is located in the municipality of Castelldefels (in the Baix Llobregat region) and covers a total area of 28 hectares with 202,000 square metres of land available for construction.

According to the Amended Special Government Plan, the permitted land use is as follows:

Academic area: 74,000 m2 
Technology transfer and research area: 78,000 m2 
Reserve area: 44,800 m2 
University accommodation area: 6,000 m2




 
The total land available for construction has been divided as follows. 55,000 m2 of land are currently occupied by 8 buildings: 
The Technical School of Castelldefels (EETAC) 
The School of Agriculture of Barcelona (ESAB) 
The Library and General Campus Services 
The Institute of Geomatics (IdG) 
The Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) 
The Telecommunications Technology Centre of Catalonia (CTTC)
The International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE)
 
Over the next 5 years, 45,000 m2 of building land will be used for new buildings: 

  • The REDIT building: 10,000 m2 
  • University Halls of Residence: 6,000 m2
  • New schools: 6,000 m2
  • New research centres: 24,000 m2
